It is that time of year when we get excited about the upcoming boat parade, where we have the opportunity to view our traditional favorites, while adding new and unique entries. We are eager to announce the 2019 theme, ‘Rock and Roll Fantasy’.
The all-volunteer Huntington Harbour Boat Parade is the non-profit Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Commitee's way of saying "thank you" to the Harbour residents for decorating their homes, enabling us to be able have the Cruise of Lights® fundraiser December 17-23, which through ticket sales, raises funds for youth music education programs.
Unlike many other boat parades, the Huntington Harbour Boat Parade is not produced or managed by a marina company, City, or Chamber of Commerce. It is an entirely volunteer effort.
Please note public viewing areas at the beaches fill up quickly with very limited parking. One of the best ways to see it is to be in it by entering your boat!
If you have thought about it before but just didn't get around to entering, don't hesitate this year—you will love being part of this! And to all past participants—we look forward to seeing your entry again.
Beside the fun and excitement, we have 16 trophies to award you for your efforts. We have categories from ‘Most Religious’ to ‘Best Commercial Entry’ (see entry form). Join us for this wonderful, charitable event—enter your boat.
Entries can also be found in Harbour Light magazine or at the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Office.
The Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee is one of 22 committees supporting the PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY OF ORANGE COUNTY, the county’s oldest non-profit music organization. For over 55 years we have joined them in their mission to foster, promote and increase the knowledge and appreciation of the arts through the presentation of performances by musical artists of national and international stature and the development and implementation of a wide variety of music education outreach programs.
More than a quarter of a million Orange County students, from kindergarten through high school, participate yearly in the Youth Programs provided by The Committees of the Philharmonic Society. The volunteers of The Committees create, provide and fund an extensive array of programs. Over 1,500 presentations are offered by professional musicians and trained docents at no charge to all public and private schools in the county.
There are six groups in the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee: Admiralty, Islander, Marina-Windjammer, Sandpiper, Seal Beach and Trinidad. Each member volunteers time with the Youth Programs and with fundraising. The reward is seeing our young people light up to the sights and sounds of music. Interested in joining one of our groups? Please call (714) 840-7542 for more information.
Our main funding project is the annual December Cruise of Lights®. For this year’s holiday celebration, we are encouraging all our Harbour neighbors to decorate their homes and participate in the decorating contests so that we can carry on the spirit of the Cruise of Lights®. Thank you for your continued support for our music education programs.
The Cruise of Lights® is our way of providing funds for the music education of Orange County school children. The Boat Parade is a ‘thank you’ to the homeowners of Huntington Harbour for decorating their homes, in anticipation of the Cruise of Lights®.
